Care Guide

CLEANING

Sterling silver oxidises naturally over time. When it does, a Silver or Gold Polishing Cloth will bring it back. We recommend Goddards or Effka. (We're working on our own. Watch this space.)

For gold-plated pieces, a soft cloth or damp cotton ball is all you need. Avoid chemicals.

STORAGE

Keep your pieces in your pink microfibre bag when you're not wearing them. Air exposure accelerates oxidisation. The bag does the work.

STERLING SILVER & SOLID GOLD

Solid sterling silver and solid gold pieces are built to go where you go. Shower, beach, pool — they can handle it.

GOLD PLATING

Plated CHIEF pieces range from 1.5-3 micron gold plating depending on the piece. Check the individual product description for specifics. All plated pieces include an additional PVD coat for durability. Bracelets and rings are plated on the thicker end. Earrings wear less, so they sit lighter.

Plating is a surface finish. Treat it accordingly.

Remove your jewellery before you shower, swim, sleep, tan or moisturise. Water, chemicals, salt and sand are all corrosive to plated surfaces. Unless a piece is explicitly described as water-safe, keep it dry.

Pools and the beach are particularly harsh. Chlorine and salt will accelerate wear.

If you stack (and we love that you do), be aware that pieces rubbing against each other will shorten the life of the plating. Worth knowing, not a reason to stop.

GEMSTONES

Gemstones will chip or shatter on impact. Handle and store carefully. Damage from mishandling is not a product fault.

ADJUSTING YOUR PIECES

Adjustable pieces are designed to be bent to your shape once. Repeated adjustment fatigues the metal. Size it right, then leave it.

HANNEYSEE

HANNEYSEE pieces are made in solid gold, to order. No plating, no compromise.

If you love a CHIEF piece enough to want it for life, we can remake it as a fine jewellery commission through HANNEYSEE. Reach out to us at concierge@chief.international. We'd love to make it happen.
